Beer Fermenter
First you need a five gallon fermenter. It has to be big enough to hold 40 pints of beer and have space for the fermenting.
Beer Drainage
When the beer is fermented you need to get it out. This drain is mounted inside the fermenter on the external valve. The other end is constructed in such a way that it will float on the top. This way you will get all the beer on the top whihout getting the dear yeast cells in the bottom of the fermenter.
Thermometer
The beer should be fermented at around 18-20 degree C. The termometer is stuck to the outside with two elastic bands.
Prepared Malt
For my first batch I have used prepared malt. I think it is better to start easy, than to fail in the first try.
Yeast
To get some action you need some yeast. Now some people advice to start the yeast in a sugar solution before using it. Normally you can just put the yeast into the fermenter and it will start by itself.
Status
One week has passed, the fermenting is going slower and the top valve is leaking a little. I can not change anything about this right now, since there is a lot of pressure in the fermenter.
